Fons Schobbers
Born 27-9-1947 in Venlo.
He was the 9th of 10 children of Harry and Cato Schobbers. His father was a businessman, grain merchant. Arts was not the obvious choice. Eventually Fons chose to be educated at the Academy for Industrial Design. He stood out for his self-will and creativity. In 1971 he graduated.
Since his childhood he was a creator, a builder. He chose freedom, no job, no collateral, but for time, he was his own creation and design ideas. It is 1974. A few hours per week he is Professor visual arts at the Vrije Academie in Venlo. Day and night, as if he had to catch up lost time, he painted and sculpts. Great examples and sources of inspiration were Picasso, Moore, Arp, Brancusi, Calder. In 1977 he married Liesbeth and in 1980 they had a daughter Jobke. Fons has developed steadily as an oaktree, slow, high and wide with huge roots growing in depth ....
